Anderson Silva, ‘The Spider’, will battle Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. on June 19 in Guadalajara, Mexico in a professional boxing match. This time, Silva, the MMA legend, will step out of his comfort zone.

Anderson Silva, the UFC veteran, would take this fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 19 in a main-event boxing scrap. While there would be several other events on the same night, the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Anderson Silva match will grab all the eyeballs.

Fans can’t wait to see the veteran pugilist taking on ‘The Spider’ in a spectacular match. Besides, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, the legendary boxer, will also be on the card, taking on Hector Camacho Jr. The match will take place at the Estadio Jalisco in Mexico.

The sight will be unforgettable when Anderson Silva, the UFC champion & MMA legend, will come inside the ring against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, the former world champion, on Saturday, June 19, at Jalisco Stadium Guadalajara, Mexico.

Here’s a closer look

The 46-year-old champion, Anderson Silva, is still one of the most prominent names in the sport. Many believe that the striker has the skills and abilities to beat anyone who goes against him. On the other hand, Chavez Jr. 52-5-1, as a pro boxer, is believed to be someone who can take on anyone in a boxing ring.

Silva would be the favorite to win it. From height to reach, and landing shots from a range— the Brazilian fighter will have many advantages over his opponent. However, being a seasoned boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will have all the opportunity to dictate the pace. It could be anyone’s game.

The Legend returns

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the Mexican boxer popularly known for holding the WBC middleweight title from 2011 to 2012, is returning to the ring with some surprises. He has fought over 50 championships and has held multiple titles. He belongs to one of the most popular boxing families.

He has only been defeated five times through his long journey — and those were against some of the most popular pound-for-pound boxers in the world. For most of us, it is surprising to note that somehow the legend was convinced to take up his next fight against champion Anderson Silva.

On the other hand, Silva has established himself as one of the most influential fighters because of his mixed martial arts credentials. But he has boxed only twice professionally, the last being in 2005. Despite that, he chose to face Chavez Jr. in his return to boxing.

Chavez Jr. did not react peculiarly. When he was asked about the upcoming fight, he said, “I’m surprised like everyone else. Surprisingly, Anderson Silva took this fight. Also, this fight is going to be of eight rounds, and it’s at 180 pounds. I think it will be another level, but I don’t want to be overconfident because I have never fought eight rounds. I know I’m a better fighter & I can beat him, but I will never be overconfident.”
