This Saturday, June 26, Gervonta Davis, the four-time champion in two weight classes, will challenge Mario Barrios, the WBA super-lightweight title-holder at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, USA. The two fighters will square off in a 12-round super lightweight bout.

Date: June 26, 2021, Saturday

Place: The State Farm Arena in Atlanta

Gervonta Davis has moved up two weight classes to create a historic match against Mario Barrios. This weekend, the face-off between the two champions will be the main attraction of the upcoming event. ‘Tank’ Davis, with 24 wins and an undefeated record, is already a champion and has won gold at super featherweight and lightweight. On the other hand, ‘El Azteca’ Barrios is the WBA super-lightweight champion. Last October, after winning the fight against Ryan Karl, he took his record to 256 straight wins. There would be a lot coming up for the boxing fans, but this fight will be truly spectacular.

Fight Card

Mario Barrios Vs. Gervonta Davis super lightweight (140 lbs)
Erickson Lubin Vs. Jeison Rosario super welterweight (154 lbs)
Batyr Akhmedov Vs. Algenis Mendez super lightweight (140 lbs)

What Gervonta Davis has to say about the Fight

Davis is hoping to become the three-weight world champion when he squares off against Barrios in Atlanta. We have to see who goes by their words on June 26. While not many anticipated this fight, Gervonta Davis will look to recreate the 2020 knockout of Leo Santa Cruz against Mario Barrios.

When asked about the upcoming boxing championship, Gervonta Davis said, “I have heard talking about the size difference at my last fight with Leo Santa Cruz. They said he was too small, so in this fight against Mario Barrios, I want people to know size is not the only thing. This is one step ahead in chasing greatness. I want to show them, bring anyone in the ring against me, and I’ll beat them. I’m sure I’ll walk down the giant man. I’m going to prove him wrong if he thinks he can easily walk over me.”

Furthermore, Davis added, “No one knows who will be the winner until we get into the ring. I don’t understand who has a better game or a record, but I want to be better than the big man in the ring on Saturday. Greatness is not about stopping; it is about moving on fast no matter what. So I don’t think much about who will be in front of me; the only thing that is in my mind is that I have to win and take one step ahead of greatness. At this time, I don’t want to say anything much about this game or the guy fighting against me; everyone will see when it happens. I have no idea about how Morrison has prepared himself for the fight, but I know I’m ready in every way a fighter should, and I’m going to win this. I don’t need to say this, but I bring something exciting for my fans every time.”
