The Canelo vs. Plant fight is being touted as the Road to Undisputed. It is a middleweight unification pro boxing match between IBF champion Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez, WBO, WBC, WBA (Super), and the Ring champion. The victor is going to become the first undisputed middleweight champion in boxing history. The Canelo vs Plant fight is going to take place on November 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Canelo is Mexico's pound-for-pound king and has gone through the super-middleweight division like a train since getting back to it. The boxer dominated Callum Smith to take the WBA belt and win the vacant WBC. In February, he then won against mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim and defeated Billy Joe Saunders by damaging his eye socket earlier this year.

With that victory, the boxer became a three-belt WBO, WBC, and WBA champion. He just needs the BIF to be completely undisputed. He will get the opportunity to add that belt to his collection when he goes off against fierce opponent Plant. The undefeated Plant is the IBF champion and defeated Caleb Truax in January. Canelo will seek to secure his position as the top pound-for-pound fighter in boxing when he goes against his opponent for the undisputed super-middleweight belt. But Caleb Plant has a perfect record from his professional career and has fired up Alvarez after both the boxers traded punches with each other in their press conference.

Canelo v Plant Fight: What happened at the press conference?

Plant was left with a cut to his face by Canelo after their first press conference turned aggressive. Before the start of the press conference in Beverly Hills, the boxers came face to face on the stage and exchanged some words. Plant said that Canelo was a drug cheat. This went for some time until Plant said something which offended Canelo. The latter then shoved Plant, but no security was close by to intervene between the two. Plant responded by walking right back up to Canelo and swinging at him. But Canelo was prepared and ducked underneath. Canelo then gave it right back with a counter left and a right hand. They have finally pulled apart after that. After the altercation, it could be seen that Canelo's punch had cut Plant under his right eye.

When they were face to face, Plant said: "You are going to find out at the same time everybody else finds out. And you know when they found out? When it was too late. That is when they found out, and that is exactly when you are going to find out. Mark my words, b***h. And you are a b***h, too," he then said as he directed his attention towards Canelo's trainer Eddy Reynoso. What the f*** are you going to do? F*** you. And you are a drug cheat. So, tell me something. Oscar Valdez tests positive for something and does not get suspended for six months. But he [Canelo] gets tested positive for something and suspended for six months, and somehow, he is not a drug cheat? You are a cheater. You got suspended for six months." Canelo then replied: "Do not make excuses before the fight. Say whatever you say; I will see you on 6 November."

Canelo v Plant Fight: What has been said?

Canelo claimed that during the exchange, Plant had insulted his mother using common slang. This had led him to shove the American. Canelo said, "You can say whatever you want to me, but not about my mother." After the press conference, Plant was seen with a plaster over the injury and told Showtime, "It is just a small cut. It is from my sunglasses. I had sunglasses on. So, when whatever happened, happened, it just scratched my cheek."

Plant said that he had not said anything derogatory about Canelo's mother and that the cut would not jeopardize their bout. Also, he attracted attention to the hypocrisy of Alvarez. He said that Alvarez had previously utilized the same slur against Demetrius Andrade nearly half a year ago in the aftermath of his bout against Billy Joe Saunders in Texas. Alvarez tested positive for clenbuterol a few years ago regarding the drug cheat slur and got a six-month ban. He says that the findings were due to some contaminated meat.

Canelo vs Plant Fight Predictions

Deontay Wilder's coach Malik Scott has given his prediction for the fight between Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed super-middleweight championship on November 6. Scott says that the IBF champion has an opportunity of defeating Canelo after an aggressive press conference some time ago. But according to him, if Plant is to defeat Canelo in the ring of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, he has to keep up the constant pressure in all the rounds.

"What I like about it is that Caleb is not playing a game. He is not playing the opponent game. He is willing to disturb Canelo, even if it means him smacking or getting smacked or whatever that was. Boxing guys like Canelo, you can never take your foot off the gas ever. For him to be his age, he has seen every style of boxing and dealt with it. Whether you felt he won fights or not, he has dealt with it. No one has ever walked through Canelo, and he has fought good fighters, great fighters."
