The weekend of Thanksgiving will bring several big championship boxing matches. The junior featherweight division will be a division under the spotlight. The boxing fans will be focused on the lightweight championship match between Lopez and Kambosos. But the Figueroa vs. Fulton fight promises to be an exciting match too. The evening's co-feature will have undefeated candidate Ra'eese Aleem fight against Eduardo Baez from Mexico. The boxers will meet in a ten-round match in the super bantamweight division. The evening will start with the undefeated Gary Antonio Russell going against Mexico's Alejandro Barrios in a ten-round fight in the bantamweight division. In the past eight years, the latter has not lost a single match. Barrios also won against Jerwin Ancajas in a debatable draw. It is a very strong card overall, and it is great that boxing fans will not have to wait too long to experience all the action.

The match was originally scheduled to be held in September. But the fight was moved to November and has become one of the top fights this month. Showtime announced that the Figueroa vs. Fulton fight is going to take place on Saturday, November 27. In the unification match, the Figueroa vs. Fulton fight features the WBC super-bantamweight champ against the WBO 122-pound champion. The Figueroa vs. Fulton fight will headline the Premier Boxing Champions event live on Showtime. The Figueroa vs. Fulton fight will see Fulton bring his WBO belt to the match. He won the belt earlier this year in the first initial title challenge match against Angelo Leo. Figueroa defeated Luis Nery this year for his championship belt. In the Figueroa vs. Fulton fight, one of the two boxers will emerge as the unified champion in Las Vegas.

If both boxers stay in the division, the victor of this match will be in a prime position to go for another unification match with Murodjon Akhmadaliev. The latter is undefeated and holds the WBA and IBF title. He will go against Ronny Rios next after Ronny withdrew from their previously scheduled match due to contracting the coronavirus.

Figueroa vs. Fulton Fight: Fulton Believes He Has the Upper Hand

The WBO super-bantamweight champ Stephen Fulton says that he will be too intelligent for the WBC champ Brandon Figueroa when they go against each other at the Las Vegas Park Theater on Saturday's Figueroa vs. Fulton fight. Fulton got the WBO belt with a unanimous decision victory over Angelo Leo at the beginning of this year. He says that he will now do better by outsmarting the undefeated Figueroa this week. Fulton said, "When I fought out in Nevada during the amateurs, I knew I would be back here fighting in Las Vegas one day as a pro. This has a different feel, but I am just focused on getting the job done and winning. I feel like this is what I am supposed to be doing right now. I am here for a reason. I am not going to let the bright lights get to me. I was made for this, and I take that mindset into the ring.”

Once I turned pro, I was on the path to becoming a world champion. I have won a world title in the division I turned pro in, and now I am unifying in my first fight as champion. I want to keep pushing forward and become undisputed at this weight class. My ability to adjust and outthink Figueroa is going to be the difference. That is not to mention my speed and underrated power. I know Figueroa will throw many punches, but I will make him miss and capitalize on his mistakes. Everyone has a different path, and for me, that has been taking dangerous fights against undefeated opponents. That has made me a better fighter. Maybe I should not have taken some of those fights, but now I have got this resume that can stack up against anybody."

Figueroa vs. Fulton Fight: Figueroa is a Grinder

The nickname of Brandon Figueroa is Heartbreaker. This is because of his good looks. But his fighting style is not very attractive. The young Texan is a grinder who focuses more on grit than guile. That method to fight has served him very well. This year, he knocked out the favorite Luis Nery with a body shot in the middle rounds to get the WBC 122-pound championship belt. Figueroa could get a bigger challenger in the Figueroa vs. Fulton fight. Fulton is a formidable fighter with great athleticism and speed. These are the main reasons that he is seen as a rising star. If there was any doubt about his spirit to fight, he defeated the slugger Angelo Leo in his style to get his belt at the beginning of this year. But Figueroa knows his opponent's caliber well, which is why he agreed to fight him.

Let’s not assume Figueroa will follow the footsteps of Canelo Alvarez if he wins, even though he will be only one match away from being the undisputed junior featherweight champ, as Murodjon Akhmadaliev has the WBA and IBF belts. Figueroa has stated that the Figueroa vs. Fulton fight will be his final match at that weight class because he has outgrown that division. So, this is the last bit of business he has left at this weight class. And he wants to do it in style. Figueroa said, "I do not fight pretty. I am not in this to look pretty; I am in this to fight, to rough up opponents, and make sure to give the fans a show. I do not know where people get this mentality that you have to look pretty for TV and fans. I am just out there to fight. That is the style I am embedded with. And it has worked well so far. (That is) the only way to get better.”

“From the start of my career, I told my dad that I wanted to fight the best. I have never said 'no' to any opponent. … This fight is no different. It is time for me to fight at the world-class level. I am ready to take that step. I am young, 24. This is the only way for me to find out who I am and my potential. Not only that, but to get better and go to the next level. I feel like my body is growing. … and my team plans to move up to 126 and maybe go for a world title there. If, when I beat Fulton, there is nothing more I can do at 122. It had been just a matter of time before I moved up to 126 and saw what my body could do. I feel 122 has taken a lot of my power. At 126, I will be a complete fighter. I want to give fans a show."
